Awkward Reunions: Intelligent Love & Friendzoned
September 2 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Two exceptional one-act plays, hand-picked as two of the best presented as part of Mad Apple Collective‘s ACANTEEN residency.
Taken from our maiden residency (#Awkward) is Intelligent Love by Ian Willingham.
Lorna’s got a date. Lorna’s got a date but something’s different. He’s sharper, wittier, and wiser than anyone she’s ever met before. His name is Jake and he’s not completely human. In a future where advancements in robotics, artificial intelligence and genetics have exceeded all expectations, dating a Super Human is fast becoming the norm.
From Mad Apple Collective’s most recent residency (Reunion) is Friendzoned by Kelly McGibney.
Sam and Alex used to work together. Sam and Alex used to like each other. Sam and Alex haven’t seen each other since Sam left the company a year ago. Sam and Alex are now stuck in a lift together for the foreseeable future. Forced to confront their past and feelings for each other, Sam and Alex discuss office flirtations, meaningful glances and being ‘friendzoned’. What are the rules for romance and what does being ‘friendzoned’ actually mean? Is affection earned or owed?
Buy a ticket in advance to guarantee entry or Pay What You Want at the venue after the show (suggested minimum donation £7).
